Orlando
FL Florida - Orlando is American through
and through but at the same time has many very evident
different cultural influences. Spanish
and Portuguese influences for many centuries have
left their mark and the Spanish and Portuguese languages
are still in evidence. Classical cultural opportunities
such as orchestral music, opera and ballet are live
in Orlando (Orlando has two professional ballet companies).
There are also many cultural events which acknowledge
the rich ethnic background of the people of Orlando.
The heritage of wildlife and nature is also very evident
in Orlando and it is home to some beautiful parks,
lakes and bird and animal sanctuaries.
Visit the Albin Polasek Sculpture Garden
and Museum in Winter Park. The Museum is
in the house that used to be Albin Polasek’s
home. Around it are beautiful gardens filled with
sculptures. A visit here makes a lovely peaceful break
to the hectic schedule of your holiday.
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra
puts on over 100 performances every season, apart
from accompanying the Orlando Opera Company. A very
