Orlando
International Airport has landings every few minutes,
so is very busy, busy airport. It handles over 30m
passengers a year. Orlando Airport has all the latest
security checks in place and is one of the leading
U.S. Airports. There are many many flights
daily into Orlando. All the major airlines
fly direct to Orlando from over 80 United States Cities
and non-stop from 20 foreign cities, and you can add
to that all the connecting flights. To give you some
idea of the volume of flights, JetBlue has 74 flights
from Kennedy New York in a week.
All the major airlines and many
many smaller ones fly to Orlando – Southwest,
US Airlines, Delta, Virgin, British Airways, Air Canada,
Icelandair to mention only a few. This means there
is thousands of seats to Orlando for you to consider
so do some serious searching to find the flights you
want, the times, the prices, the discounts and deals.
The Internet makes this easy for you and it is well
worth doing some homework before purchasing your flight
tickets. The cost of the tickets will depend on the
time of day you want to travel, the time of year and
also the day of the week – you will need to
do a little research to find out which is the better
deal for you.
There are several methods of transportation
from Orlando Airport. You might be collecting
a rental car at the Airport or taking a taxi. Taxis
take up to 9 passengers so is a good option for a
group – for example a taxi trip to Lake Bueno
Vista is between $40-50. There are Shuttle Buses to
all the main hotels and for example to International
Drive or Kissimmie, the cost door-to-door is about
$20 a person with a return trip about $30 (and there
can be reductions for children).
Lynx buses depart every half hour
to Orlando Downtown and International Drive. It takes
about 40 minutes to get to Downtown and another twenty
minutes to International Drive. The cost of a Lynx
bus ticket is $1.25 - $1.50 and this includes any
transfers.
Another Airport serving Orlando is Orlando
Sanford International Airport. This Airport
is some 18 miles northeast of Orlando with state of
the art facilities. If you are leaving the Airport
by rental car, there are excellent highways to the
Beaches and Orlando downtown. Much smaller (and quieter
than Orlando International, it is used by many Airlines,
Charter Flights from U.S. cities and many from UK
cities.
